SHAHA Panther Hockey – Beyond the Blue Line Newsletter
Season Opener Edition
- Season Welcome
Welcome back, Panthers! The rink is buzzing with excitement as we gear up for another fantastic season of SHAHA hockey. We’re thrilled to see both returning players and new faces joining the family. Let’s hit the ice with energy, teamwork, and the SHAHA grit that makes our organization so special. Here’s to a great season filled with hard work, friends, and, of course, plenty of wins!
- SHAHA Store is Always Open
Gear up for the season with the latest SHAHA Panthers merchandise! Whether you need a new uniform, some cool swag, or that perfect piece of gear, we’ve got you covered. Shop online anytime at SHAHA Store or visit us in person at Leway Enterprises, located at 4854 Streets Run Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to represent your team in style! The in person store is filled with custom gloves, shirts, hats and more!
- Puck Raffle – Win a Custom Stick!
At the start of the season, we often find ourselves short on pucks for practices and games. This year, we have organized a raffle in collaboration with Pure Hockey to address this issue.
Raffle Details:
- Prize: Pure Hockey has donated a Bauer Custom Tracer Quick Turn Stick. If a goalie wins, they can choose the Custom Shadow stick instead. The player can select the color, add their name, and customize all options (size, curve, flex, etc.).
How to Enter:
- To enter the raffle, a player, parent, sponsor, etc., must donate a puck to receive a raffle ticket. For example, if you have 7 pucks at home, you can donate all seven and receive 7 raffle tickets. Donate 20 pucks, get 20 raffle tickets, and so on.
- The pucks can be used or new, with no maximum limit, as long as they are legal and usable.
- SHAHA needs the pucks!
- Mite families can donate blue (mite weight) pucks, as well as black legal pucks.
Raffle Ticket Management:
- Team managers will control the raffle tickets, which Mike Nesbitt will provide. There is no limit on the number of tickets, but to receive a ticket, the manager must collect the puck(s), provide the ticket, and ensure the player or parent returns the stub with their name and phone number filled out. This is a 1-for-1 exchange.
- Team managers should hold onto the pucks and raffle tickets for collection by Mike.
Important Dates:
- The raffle ends on September 14th.
- The drawing will be on September 21st (location and time TBD).
Additional Information:
- Each team will start with 75 tickets. If you need more, please contact your team manager!
- Rule Changes
This season brings some important PAHL rule updates you need to know. For a quick overview, check out the New Rules Summary. For those who want to dive deeper, the Full Rules are available online. Stay informed to ensure fair and competitive play!
- SHAHA Cash Bash – Save the Date! Friday January 10th!
Mark your calendars! The SHAHA Cash Bash is tentatively scheduled for January 10th. It’s one of our biggest events of the year, with plenty of prizes, fun, and community spirit. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date, but make sure to save the date now!
- YMCA Reminders
To ensure a positive experience for everyone at the rink, please keep these important reminders in mind:
- Tailgating with beverages is strictly prohibited anywhere on the YMCA property at any time.
- After games, please clear the hallways promptly to allow smooth access for players entering and exiting the locker room areas.
Thank you for your cooperation!
- Picture Day Schedule
Get ready to smile! Player pictures, except for Mites, will be taken from September 23-25, with a makeup date of September 30. Mite pictures will be scheduled as soon as uniforms are confirmed and delivered. This year, all pictures will be taken off the ice, with digital compilation team photos offering more flexibility in both product and scheduling. Details will be shared soon!
- LiveBarn Update
We’ve made some improvements to enhance your LiveBarn experience. The camera has been relocated to the opposite side of the rink, providing a clearer view without the net interference. Additionally, the mic has been muted due to its close proximity to the score booth and benches, ensuring a better viewing experience without unnecessary noise.
- A Few Mite Spots Remain!
Do you know someone who’s eager to join the SHAHA family? A few spots are still available for Mites! For more information or to sign up, please contact Ian Episcopo at developmental@shaha.org. Let’s get those future stars on the ice!
We’re excited to kick off this season and can’t wait to see you all at the rink. Go Panthers!
